My name is Jonathan McGough, co-founder of Empyrean Games. My partner Shane and I are looking for an artist who would be able to complete a number of illustrations for usage in our first game, Clockwork Soul. What we are looking for is an artist capable of producing between 20-30 single page drawings, (approximately 8.5 x 11) several smaller images for use throughout the book, and possibly the cover art. As things stand now, the artwork would not need to be finished until January, 2011, and the payment would be between $1,500 and $2,000.



Here is a description of the game world:



The world is old. It has seen the rise and fall of countless civilizations, perhaps has more of its history behind it than future left ahead. Cities have been built over the ruins of other cities, gears have rusted and turned to dust. It is something of a world sized junkheap. Humans live out their lives on mountains that walk, Clockwork colossi capable of sustaining entire cities. Golem-smiths create life out of metal and rust. Gearmancers compel society away from entropy. Clockworks, well, the Clockworks do a little of everything.



That should give you a feel for the world in general. The people who play the game will be composed of two groups, humans and clockworks. They are both sentient, and are both capable of creating incredibly large metal bodies. In the case of the humans, they interface with the bodies like a pilot. In the case of clockwork, the metal would literally be an extension of their bodies. The bodies are not necessarily human shaped. They can take any shape, grow in any way. They grow progressively larger by adding more and more layers of gears, weapons, and gadgets to their form.



To summarize, for feel you have a mix of traditional steampunk, shadow of the colossus, and a touch of the post apocalyptic.

Again, as for payment, the current offer is $1,500, paid out incrementally, with a bonus between 250-500$+ at the completion of the project. Example City Description



Empyrean

Empyrean is disparate even among hulking, sentient machines. Where others mine for resources, the citizens of Empyrean trade. Others build components; engineers in Empyrean design blue prints. Most distinctly, while others walk Empyrean flies.



Flight is no simple task. The city is kept aloft by powerful steam engines engorged by a nearly continuous stream of fuel. Empyrean's form is elongated, stretched out much thinner and further than is normal. Turbines push air beneath her so that she stays aloft. During especially poor weather Empyrean is capable of landing on flat ground. Many storms have been weathered in plains or alongside canyons.



The engineers of Empyrean bare a symbol; a wing on a shield represents their pursuit of knowledge for the benefit and protection of their city. They pursue their science with a zeal that boarders on religious.



As you can see, this is just a short blurb about what the city is. It's basically a flying, sentient amalgamation of gears and cogs, engines and people. It is a home, a city, and a dangerous combatant all at once.

Clockwork Steamswarm

Steamswarms are clockworks which control magnetized swarms of "Tics" and "Tocs". These tics and tocs, small, birdlike objects, are embedded in enemies and allies. The steamswarm can then use his abilities to manipulate them, granting bonuses to those embedded with tics and harming those containing tocs. Better accuracy, more powerful punches, and even increased movement are all capable from tics. Meanwhile, tocs are used to short circuit, damage, and even combust unsuspecting enemies.



The steamswarm, the controller of the tics and tocs, may take any form, humanoid or non. As they increase in size, their bodies become a repository for tics and tocs. The tics and tocs act as both armor and offense. Some steamswarms seem little more than a Soul Cog wrapped in layer upon layer of tics and tocs. Other steamswarms boast weapons and armor, fighting side by side with their automatons.





So, hopefully that gives you a good idea of what we are looking for! We are very excited about the project, and hope that whatever artist we use is as well.

I had another artist commissioned but he hasn't done a single illustration in over 3 weeks so I've cancelled his contract. Since winning specific races is often used as a barrier to completing quests, and races have the potential to drop special items (and the no-waits can be stacked with a buff to increase drop rate chances) this is a pretty valuable in-game item.



Fuel additive (200x200px) - $54 USD

This will increase the user's maximum fuel capacity for 24 hours (and unlike the 2 above it can be gifted daily rather than weekly), increasing the value that they get from items that refill their fuel and thus the amount they can play in a given session.

Similar to the first image (cool street racer guy), should be torso/head of a super hot girl looking confident she's about to show the boys how it's done. Car in the background should look great.

Java Applet To Download UTube Video

This is very urgent. In short I need to be able to fetch flv links of youtube videos, and let the user download them. This worked until recently, but youtube has made some changes so that only the user that fetches the flv link can download it. So if my server IP fetches the flv, it won't let the user download it. You can see that on clipnabber.com for example, they now require you to enter the source code to download videos.



I need something similar to the solution that keep-tube.com has done ( Savevid.com has done that also). It seems they are using a java applet to get around this issue. So I need a java applet built that will allow me to get the correct youtube flv paths for a given user.

Interactive Maps

My websites: International Brotherhood of Rail Riders Forum and Project Magellan. The first is written in SMF (Simple Machines Forum) and the latter is written in TikiWiki. We are hobos primarily in North America.



So, what I want is the ability to have a master page which will allow me to search and enter data. For the entering of data I want to be able to type an address and it automatically plots the spot and generates the map. Now, I want to be able to add layers to that marker so to speak. I want to be able to select the marker and then flip thru say some pictures, notes, weblinks, etc. I want to be able to have all these markers appear on the globe (obviously google earth and the need to zoom in and out). Finally, I want to be able to 'call' this up from both within my forum and wiki. I understand each are different so let's concentrate on the cheapest/easiest way first.



I know this is probably pretty simple as I see sites all over doing it like real estate, hotels and google and all, but I don't code and want to be able to simply have some fields appear and I fill in the blank. In Tiki it's entered within Trackers and SMF I have no clue.

ART GUIDANCE



THE UNICORN (as a unicorn)

From the book: "She did not look anything like a horned horse, as unicorns

are often pictured, being smaller and cloven-hoofed, and possessing that

oldest, wildest grace that horses have never had, that deer have only in a

shy, thin imitation and goats in dancing mockery. Her neck was long and

slender, making her head seem smaller than it was, and the mane that fell

almost to the middle of her back was as soft as dandelion fluff and as fine

as cirrus. She had pointed ears and thin legs, with feathers of white hair

at the ankles; and the long horn above her eyes shone and shivered with its

own seashell light even in the deepest midnight."



From "Two Hearts:" "They don't look anything like horses. I don't know where

people got that notion. Four legs and a tail, yes, but the hooves are split

like a deer's hooves, or a goat's, and the head is smaller and more pointy

than a horse's head. And the whole body is different from a horse, it's like

saying that a snowflake looks like a cow. The horn looks too long and heavy

for the body, you can't imagine how a neck that delicate can hold up a horn

that size. But it can."



THE UNICORN (as the Lady Amalthea)

As Amalthea, her hair is soft and fine, and almost white. Her eyes are the

Unicorn's eyes, dark and endless; her body is deceptively fragile and

flowerlike -- she is actually quicker and stronger than she ever has cause

to show. Her beauty is equally deceptive: feature for feature, there's

nothing drop-dead gorgeous about her, nothing of the movie star or the

model, but she moves with a kind of flowing grace that is almost hypnotic --

and that inevitably betrays her origin to King Haggard. There is no

adjective that suits her look, except unworldly.



SCHMENDRICK THE MAGICIAN

Tall and thin, his body and too-young face all angles. Not handsome -- he'll

never be that -- but it's a face that will age over time, once he attains

his true power, into something quietly authoritative and commanding. His

eyes are green, his hair dark and permanently unruly. He has big feet, long

knobbly hands, and a rather big nose. There's a sense, as with an adolescent

(which, in a certain way, he is), that he isn't in full control of his body

-- at times it seems to be running away with him. All this begins to change

by degrees, first when he summons Robin Hood and his band of outlaws...then

when he changes the Unicorn into a human woman...and finally when he turns

her back to herself to fight the Red Bull. His nose and feet are still big,

and his hair won't ever be really manageable - but he knows who he is now;

and with that knowledge has come, not only power, but a dignity that he

never had before, and that should be reflected in his depiction.



MOLLY GRUE

Somewhere past 35: thin and slatternly and weary and angry when we first

meet her, after fifteen or so years living in the greenwood with Captain

Cully. Molly has no illusions, and no hope; her bitter rage is all that

sustains her. It has made her look older than she is, unlike Schmendrick.

She was probably pretty when she met Cully -- now her hair is the color of

straw that's been trodden on a lot, and her wiry frame has a constant wary

stiffness about it. She is an emotional desert when she meets the Unicorn,

but her change begins almost from that moment: on their journey into King

Haggard's barren realm she flowers, exactly like a desert that hasn't known

rain for years. Her instant unconditional love for the Unicorn -- and for

the Lady Amalthea -- leads her to an increased tolerance for Schmendrick

that gradually becomes respect, and in time a tenderness that surprises her.

In the perpetual winter of Haggard's castle, she grows into the woman she

was always meant to be: wise and loving, and very brave. And beautiful.





KING HAGGARD

Tall and powerfully built, Haggard could even be considered handsome, in a

bleak, stony way. His presence overwhelms that of his son; you hardly look

at Prince Lír when Haggard is in the room. His eyes are a pale, utterly

empty gray, the same color as his still-thick hair, and his mouth is a

nearly-lipless slash above a jaw like a hammer. There is nothing in the

least tentative about his movements -- except, on occasion, when he looks at

the Lady Amalthea, suspecting what she is before she ever enters his castle,

yet not entirely certain...He is not an evil man, in the classic sense, and

should not be depicted in that fashion. Rather, he is so unhappy that his

unhappiness hardened very long ago into something truly terrible. He knows

it himself, and is far, far past caring. He is heartless by old choice -- a

heart is a hazard and an enemy to Haggard -- and the only thing that has

ever slipped past his guard and laid him open to vulnerability was his first

sight of unicorns. King Haggard being who he is, the vision led him, not to

wonder and generosity, but to a ferocious hunger to possess every bit, every

trace of such beauty. And so, eventually, to his doom...





PRINCE LÍR

Blonde and blue-eyed, he is almost as tall as his father, and -- when we

meet him -- good-looking in a vague, characterless, rather doughy style.

He's an innocent, a good bit like Schmendrick in a couple of important ways,

having no real ego, and no sense of who he truly is. But unlike King

Haggard, his first sight of the Lady Amalthea rouses in him a passionate

yearning to do something -- anything -- for her, to make himself useful to

her in any way he can. To be useful (and, certainly, to court her, however

clumsily) he has to become a hero: a quester, a dragonslayer, a savior of

damsels in distress. The process not only affects him physically -- he grows

notably buffer and leaner through the course of the story -- it makes him

wiser as well, while imbuing him with the sadness that all heroes need to

teach them understanding of other people's sorrow If it has made him a fit

companion for a woman he can never have, it also makes him fit to be a king.





CAPTAIN CULLY

He's in his forties: stocky, red-haired and freckled, looking as though he

were meant for a prosperous greengrocer -- which he probably was -- instead

of an outlaw. (In fact, he'd have loved to be an actor.) He's somewhat

better-dressed than the rest of his shabby gang, and you'd have to kill him

to get that hat with the jaunty feather off his head. A broad face, at once

good-humored and anxious; not really a merry man, no matter how much he

insists that he's merry twenty-four hours a day. The red hair is graying at

the temples, and there's a distinct nervousness to his body language. If it

weren't for his stubborn loyalty to his self-image - and the songs he's

devoted to that image - he'd most likely get out of the freebooter business

altogether. He's not cut out for it, and down inside he knows it, as do

Molly and most of his men. But he's bound and determined to be an epic

figure, whatever it costs him. A likeable, hopeless





JACK JINGLY

A "Little John" figure, Captain Cully's lieutenant: huge and dark and shaggy

as a grizzly. He takes his nickname from the rings, bottle caps, and other

metallic gewgaws sewn to his ragged jerkin. He's not stupid -- he's

definitely smarter than Cully -- but he's genuinely devoted to his leader,

even knowing what he is. Black eyes and a thick black beard, which he's

constantly scratching; he probably bathes every other week, whether he needs

Artists and a web designer needed

CAUTION: This is for serious people only, this is a long post.



NOTICE* All names are subject to change based on agreement between artist and me, I simply gave a lot of names out so some of them are poorly thought out.



Okay well this is just like most of those “need artist” posts however my offer is serious and I've offered the world that I've created. I still haven't revealed the plot line but I've revealed how everything works, the countries, the characters and who they are and how they look like, I've also drawn a map of the world for visual reference. By world I mean the continent that this story takes place on because the rest of the world is simply inaccessible. I've also detailed how “magic” or as I'm temporarily calling it in this, “power,” works. I would write the episodes and you (maybe you guys) would draw the story. We would split any revenue accordingly, as it is my intellectual property I would decide how the profits are split amongst all helpers of the group. But most likely all profits would be split evenly such as a 3person joint project, everyone gets 33.333%. Etc. Also, though it'd be nice to attempt to publish this, if anything we will create a web-series in which we'd all do this on our free time for fun and maybe eventually get picked up. Also, this is obviously not all the details but these are all details that I thought to be important to put up while searching for an artist.

Okay well the setting is very grim, war is everywhere, the world is wrapped in conspiracy. Continue reading as the explanations are extremely specific!



Aging in this story:

Essentially the more “god-like” you are the slower you age. I've compared it once to the function of f(x)= sqrt(x) meaning the older you get, the slower you age, eventually the change in aging is so minimal that it doesn't occur. The Retross have yet to discover an age in which they die, however due to the catastrophic event where they lost control of their powers a large portion of the population died out, and many more simply died from misery. Others have yet to regain control of any amount of their power as they learned to use it without controlling it at all time.

How does Power (name pending) work in this?

First off there are four organs:

Tresto

Veltrox

Iriniu

Evengel



From top to bottom in power, the lower it is, the stronger it is.



Every child starts off with their Tresto un-sealed

The Veltrox is unsealed when promoted to CO (essentially triples power)

The Iriniu is unlocked when they become a Maven or Vice-Maven (multiplies original power by 13)

Evengel is forbidden, thus only the Keeper of the Citadel has it opened unleashing near infinite power.



The measure of power is measured in the sense that the ###### is how much power they produce per hour, but due to the nature of the body they aren't capable of story any of that energy. This is the reason why most soldiers in this world use alternate weaponry such as guns and swords, etc. in order to conserve their reservoir of energy.



The way in which people utilize their power is in two forms



Raw Form: Can be used instantly as it's always available to be called forth to block blows, essentially to be used as a physical property. The most popular use of raw power is to enhance muscle strength and the durability of skin, bones, etc. Therefore it actually allows people to fly through mountains like they do often in Anime and come out unscathed, and because of this they're capable of punching through walls, etc. without breaking their arms. Using power to enhance their muscles they're capable of running at high speeds or even using it to create a link between origin and external entities for brief moments therefore allowing wall running etc.



Controlled form: Through use of rune-gateways, what is called rune magic which takes the desired amount of raw power and transforms it into a force or simply function. So you can possibly create runes of protection, runes of fire, etc. Depending on how much energy you feed into the spell, the stronger the results.

How it works? Well you either have an inscription tattooed onto your body, or simply drawn, or have a signet, or piece of jewelry or weaponry with it. Or for more complex spells a caster uses raw energy to create “parchment” with which they spell out the spell via runes. Once it's manifested the parchment disappears when the spell's activated.

World Situation: The Retross Empire is pressed against the great lake and is facing annihilation in face of being destroyed by the Confederation is the most technologically sound force in the current world situation. The United front is pushing from the north west against the Retross as well via Gorilla warfare all the while aiding the Confederation with supplies and soldiers. The two have allied with each other and agreed to eventually unite the entire continent. As of right now the Retross are fighting a losing battle as due to their now limited power it takes longer to create powerful and capable soldiers. Also the Retross take longer to reproduce.

Countries:

Retross Empire: Originally consisted of only Retross, however as the years progressed it swallowed up other races going as far as the second generation off spring of Retross. This empire is mostly reliant on the power of their population as opposed to technological development however in recent times there's been a push for more tech power as guerrilla warfare is becoming increasingly popular making the elimination of powerful fighters significantly easier.



United Front: Consists of a various races ranging from human to distant relations to Retross (so distant that they're considered a different race), this country is keen on technology and how it may be enhanced via power (working title).



Confederation: Almost entirely made up of Humans and huge technological advancements. They create remote controlled weapons and use weapons and mechas. These guys are essentially creating methods of dispatching Retross with little to no risk for them.



Important note: All the countries are either modern (Retross) in technology meaning they have today's tech, with the exception of nuclear weapons, or they're somewhat futuristic (united front, confederation).

Attire: Due to his consistent missions in the field of special operations he doesn't even own a military uniform rather he prefers to wear a modified trench coat which can hold easy access ammunition, grenades, anything he really needs. He wears an “X” strap underneath his trench coat over his shirt that he's wearing which has four ammo clips for his dual 9 mm pistols which are strapped to this as well. On the back of his trench coat he has focused magnets which hold his rifle in place. On his hip he has a belt, on which he has his Katana strapped to, on back of which there's a third pistol. On his right thigh he has a strap holding a combat knife, on his two calves he has throwing daggers. He rotates through several different amulets on his neck generally holding a hidden rune on them.



Combat Style: Extremely efficient and rarely wastes time with an opponent, however if he cannot dispatch an enemy in a fast and clean manner he will fight defensively until he finds a weakness. He's also one of the most reliant characters on the art of rune-casting. He has also notable skill in ranged weaponry, more precisely in sniping as he has generally been a lone wolf.



Rosell: (Protagonist's “second”)

Sex: Female

Age: 98 (Looks 23)

Hair: Long to upper/middle back(Strawberry Blonde)

Skin Tone: Light to medium Tan

Height: 5'7”-5'9”

Weight: 120-130ish

Figure: Extremely taut, slightly busty but nothing too large.

Demeanor: Intelligent however extremely optimistic, compassionate

Power level: 65,000

Attire: She likes to wear a micro-Kevlar suit which renders the majority of bullets useless. She has a “plates” of polyethylene covering vital organs an areas that have no joins. She has them on her forearms for defensive combat against an armed enemy. She does not fight with a Katana but rather with a Kusarigama-based weapon but rather it's a sickle on one side and a mini-morning star on the other for the ability to fight short ranged and long range. She sometimes wears a polyethylene helmet in general combat situations.

Combat Style: Extremely aggressive and passionate, she rarely is considerate or tactical and relies on her skills in the lost art of her weapon to carry her through battles along with brute force.



Orino: (Secondary Protagonist)

Sex: Male

Age: 159 (Looks 28)

Hair: Bald

Skin Tone: Pretty pale with a hint of tan

Height: 5'11

Weight: 185

Muscle tone: Above average muscle tone, but not ridiculously buff.

Demeanor: Shy, modest, thoughtful

Power Level: 89,000

Attire: Due to his lack of combat over the last two decades he's shifted his attire to be more formal and wears a military uniform.



Combat Style: He rarely fights but when he does he fights in the art Jujitsu enhanced through impact triggered rune spells, he has double plated fore-arms and shins and soles. During this style of combat he wears Kevlar armor similar to Rosell.



Ezerious: (Antagonist)

Sex: Male

Age: 632 (41)

Hair: Rather short, has a “power hair cut”, it's gray

Skin Tone: Pale

Height: 6'2”

Weight: 170

Muscle Tone: Non-existent, just very skinny

Demeanor: Cold, Calculating, unforgiving, intense

Power Level: 7,000

Attire: Council Robes/Pajamas depending on whether or not he's too tired to change just like most councilors.



Combat style: He doesn't fight, he simply schemes.

History of Universe of “Legend of Tretor” (this is just general back story, probably unnecessary):



The multiverse was created when the god Dzios became self aware. The universe is an extension of his consciousness. It is simply put his imagination because he is it, and it is him. In this multiverse after much debated boredom he creates the first league of Gods. After thousands of years of a father-son relationship though the league begins to grow tired of the grim reality that they're not actually in charge of reality or even in charge of their fates. They realize that in order to separate the universe from being bound to Dzios is to simply kill that segment of his existence off and separate the reality from the whims of Dzios. In one of the few verses Dzios is indeed “killed” off and the verse goes off on an tangent where it is ruled by the League. The league creates mankind in their image, except they create them as purely corporeal versions of themselves holding no true power alone.



Of course the verse gets messed up by the mistakes of a few gods having sex with humans, many of the children get killed off by the gods prior to birth or shortly after but a few manage to live on. These creations are the Unclero who eventually mated with the Humans creating the Retross. The Retross are the first actual Demi-gods. The Unclero attempt to lead a war against the League alone but get mostly slaughtered killing off only a small portion of the League. The Retross mate with another and eventually create a race of people thousands in number. The reason they outgrow the League in size is because of their consistent disputes within the league and much more difficult mating process. Needless to say that eventually the Retross overthrow the League and install themselves as the rulers of the Verse trying to rule the humans fairly, inter-breading is allowed and happens quite peacefully. However after thousands of years of fair rule a somewhat odd occurrence happens and the Humans get flooded with immense powers and attempt to overthrow the Retross, they fail after years of battle but the battle gives way to hostility to present day.



Eight hundred-ish years prior to day of story though the Retross lose control of their near-boundless power and begin to blow up in a similar way to how nukes explode. The few Retross survivors are those who manage to “seal” their power in time. The reason for loss of control is unknown. Each Retross born from that point on is given three seals to unseal as they progress in control. Present day involves the Confederation, The Retross Empire, and the empire of the United front.

Need Help With Ident

I am looking for someone who is interested in updating my current Ellipsis Entertainment ident.
